The Evil Eye is a concept that spans the globe and can be found in all cultures and countries in some form. As a concept, it dates back to ancient Sumer, and charms, prayers, wards, and hymns against it can be dated as far back as 5000 years. Today, we find ourselves uniquely contending with new perils that lead us to be vulnerable to this ancient curse, and as a result, knowledge of the Eye has become more widespread and increased its popularity. If you have ever been curious about those strange blue charms you see everywhere from the metaphysical store to designer boutiques, this class aims to answer all questions through providing extensive background and history, theory on the magical origins of the curse, and a toolkit for identifying, preventing, and curing the dreaded Malocchio.

Edited to Add: Some discrepancy exists about the method of olive oil in a bowl of water. Many believe the water should be holy water, and there is also belief that solid "eyes" of oil are good, while the "oil slick" effect is bad. Some feel that a single eye of oil is good, while multiple eyes are bad. Considering the disagreement of sources and tradition, do what resonates with you and interpret it in a way that is meaningful for yourself and your energy. Such is often the way of folk magic, wide disagreement on common practices being the norm.
